The first self-managed bus was launched on the streets of Taipei between 1 and 5 August this year as part of local government efforts to stimulate the construction and development of smart cities and improve the quality of life of Taiwanese residents.

Produced by Ligier Group based in France, the bus is able to carry up to 12 passengers, developing a maximum speed of 40 km / h. The latter works on batteries by taking 14 hours on a single charge. During his test period, he ran between 1:00 am and 4:00 pm on a predetermined trajectory.

The Mayor of the Republic of China Co Wen Jie said that such an innovation is a huge step in the right direction when it comes to successfully overcoming the modern challenges of urban and national transport through the use of innovative solutions.

The programs for Self-Driving Vehicle are key to Taipei's urban development strategy, Co said, that they are definite proof of the tireless efforts of the government. However, in his words, there is a lot of work to do.

According to the IT Department, the first three days of the bus tests were devoted to collecting data to correct the existing transport system and route planning. The last two were dedicated to focus groups.
